Desert Museum Palo Verde is a hybrid with three parents that combines the most desirable qualities of each one. It stands out from other varieties of Palo Verde with a distinctively upright growth habit, brighter green color, thornless branches, and a longer blooming period. Its lemon yellow flowers are large for a Palo Verde, opening in late spring and continuing through the summer if supplemental water is given. Desert Museum has an airy canopy made up of long, slender leaves and tiny leaflets that cast filtered shade, allowing a variety of plants to grow under its protection. This hardy hybrid tolerates reflected heat as well as temperatures into the teens, and its trunk and branches stay green year-round, brightening dull winter landscapes.
