Rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub with a long, rich history of use in food, medicine, and folklore in almost all parts of the world. This Mediterranean plant tolerates very dry conditions, frequent pruning or shearing, reflected heat, and full sun. Most insects and pests won’t chew on the highly aromatic, needle-like leaves or the woody stems, which makes this carefree herb particularly easy to grow. Whether used in containers or planted in the ground, it asks only for good drainage and occasional watering once it’s established. With these two needs met, Rosemary will quickly become a thriving addition to your garden, flowering abundantly in late spring and sometimes fall. ‘Huntington Carpet’ is one of the hardiest trailing cultivars. It stays much lower to the ground than other varieties, and doesn’t lose its foliage in the center like the other trailing selections tend to do.
