Like other Senna varieties, Silver Leaf Senna is a popular choice for both residential and commercial landscapes because of its exceptional heat and drought tolerance, and open rounded form when left un-pruned. Tucson gardeners appreciate this plant for the dense, yet airy, silver-grey foliage that clings to the shrub year-round and makes an attractive screen, hedge, border, or specimen.
In late winter, masses of lightly fragrant, golden-yellow flowers are borne in clusters along the branches and continue to bloom through spring. Best in full sun and well-draining soil, Silver Leaf Senna survives on as little as 12 inches of rainfall a year, but welcomes supplemental irrigation through the summer heat.
